Many Many moods and reflections

Daily Quote : "Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore, seek not to understand that thou mayest believe, but believe that thou mayest understand." - Aurelius Augustinus
Craving : Footlong southwest steak and cheese on oregano parmesan

Ok so it has been ages since I last blogged, can't say I didn't warn you readers though. I have been mentioning how inconsisten I have been with blogs since my first post. Well many of you reading this will probably expect this particular post be a long one, since it's been so long. The only thing I can say is I am just gonna let my creative juices flow.

So now, let's start. So what's new? Ermmm...firstly there are 2 nice girls up in Cameron Highlands, which should be pretty mad at me. This because I didn't write or send them the chocolate fudge I was supposed to. Shelby and Li Yee, I'm sorry yeah? I promise to make it up to you when you get back. Just for the record though, the chocolate fudge is still in my freezer and it still isn't firm enough yet. I made some serious boo boo with that recipie.

I have also recently embarked on a new fitness regime of playing sports about 4-5 nights a week. Futsal on Thursday and Sunday (maybe tuesday?) and Volleyball on Monday and Friday. I seriously hope this lasts. I've been really enjoying myself with all these sports. It feels good to get a work out and maybe this will help me to shed some pounds yeah? Who knows maybe I'll slim, fit and buff in six months! (Ok you all can stop with the wise cracks! Especially you Timothy, and you too Charles!).

Youth Fellowship has also started over the past to weeks. It has been really fun getting back together with all the youth and even getting to know people better within the groups. This year I've been paired up with Moey Eng (please forgive me if I spelt this wrong) in leading out Theophilus (Miss Lye Jee Lee, you donnit so perasan) group, named by popular demand from the Bible Knowledge students. As for the students in the group there are (get ready, this is your moment of glory) in no particular order Tian Hui, Chen Lee, Keen Wai, Su Ming, Khareeza, Teressa, Jee Leng, Dinah, Joseph, Adrian Mark and Sandra. Here's hoping we'll have a great year ahead together yeah?

Ok I think that should be enough for now. Hopefully you won't need to wait as long for my next post.

Note : I am gonna try allowing replies to my blogs for a week and see what happens.

When does No mean No and when does No mean Yes?

Daily Quote : "Last week I stated that this woman was the ugliest woman I had ever seen. I have since been visited by her sister and now wish to withdraw that statement" -Mark Twain-
Craving : Still Cravingless...hmmm

Now when is it that a woman says No and means No, and when is it when she says No and means Yes? I for one have always taken things at face value, No means No and Yes means Yes. I know most of the guys out there will agree with me on this (bearing ofcourse all those sick pyschos who rape and say "When they say no they really mean yes"..and if you are one of those, you should be in jail!). I mean women just love the mind games don't they, and guys have been complaining about it for ages. And now I have even more proof of this.

I was out with a couple of friends, Serena and Charles on Tuesday night, once again taking advantage of the 50% earthquake discount at Swensen's after which Melvin abandoned us and we ajourned to Murni's. Now somewhere along the way the conversation got on to the topic of relationships, a.k.a. bgr. Serena was extremely curious about the progress which Charles and I were making on our respective projects. Unfortunately there was no good news from us and the two of us both that we had both got a pretty definate "No". This is where the interesting part comes in. Serena then proceeded to tell us that we shouldn't give up because sometimes when the girl says "No" she actually means "Try harder" or "Yes" (Now..I don't remember the exact words so I apologize for any inconsistentcies). When we heard that, Charles and I were like "What?! Could you say that again?". Not that we haven't heard that before, but words like that are usually coming out from the mouth of some guy friend/heng tai that is trying to console and encourage. I have never heard a girl say that before. So I guess that is living proof that women just love to mess with men's minds!

Your's truly : The mozzie buffet

Daily Quote : "I only scam the people who would do the same thing to me only if they were smarter" -Dogbert-
Craving : None (That's right! I'm all craved out!)

Alrights..it's been 2 days since I got back from a Young Adults Fellowship camp at Port Dickson and still I bear the scars of battle. For 2 Nights and 2 days I had to brave the swarming hordes blood thirsty monsters for the greater good of my dorm, emerging every morning with about 50 new bites! And believe it or not, I was the only subjected to such harsh conditions. Dang those mozzies! Dang those sand flies! By the time the camp was over I looked like I was suffering through my second bout of chicken pox! Seriously...it is that bad.

Other then the draining of my blood the camp went pretty well, even after the unfortunate start (I had an accident barely meters from the entrance of the camp site, thank God total cost = RM115). The speaker made pretty good points and said somethings that need to be said but I felt he could have done it in a better way. I wasn't too happy with the speaker in some aspects but that isn't for public discussion. The games on the other hand were really fun..especially the pipe filling game. And ofcourse who can forget the wonderful beach soccer moment when Weng Soon and Shaun went of frolicking in the sea with the ball.

On a sadder note the weekend also marked the passing of one of my church members. Even though I did not know him all that well, but it is hard to believe that only a month or two back I was at the same table with him making sushi for the VBS. One thing that can be learnt from the sad occurance though is that..please if there is anything wrong with you physically, biologically...go see a doctor. Don't wait till someone has to drag you there. He will sorely be missed.

WHH 8753 : The UPM story...uncut

Daily Quote : "Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together." - Oprah Winfrey-
Craving : A nice big juicy 100% angus beef burger

Looks like my blog frequency is about to drop again, the third post of the new year and already I've missed a day. So what I lack in frequency I will make up with quality and quantity! (This is my excuse for having exceptionally long blog entries) So all those griping about the length of my entries have 2 choices, "To read or not to read?" Choose the latter and you'll still be drawn back here by my immense gravitational pull that even extends to the world wide web. (Oh come on...I should be allowed to be thick skinned once in awhile).

Last night a few friends, namely Yueen San, Jee Lee and Joshua, and myself decided to take a nice long drive to University Putra Malaysia, located 30-45 minutes away to visit our friend Weng Yan who was studying there. Now there would have been nothing interesting about this except that we had decided to surprise her with our visit. So after about 30 minutes drive down and 15 minutes of searching for her Kolej aka Dorms (don't ask me why they call it a kolej...it's a malaysian thing) I parked the car and the 4 of us duly disembarked.

After a short search, we found Weng Yan's block, and since guys are not allowed in there Josh and I waited outside while the 2 girls went to surprise her with our presence. Now in a perfect, boring world they would have found her and she'd be surprise and after many hugs and screams we would have all adjourned for a drink and head home. But as we all well know this is not a perfect world and though it is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible, I'm begining to suspect that God has a sense of humor.

It turned out that our visitee was not in her room. So we called her handphone only to hear the ringing coming through the door of the room, looks like the phone had been abandoned just like us. So now started the adventure and desperation as we tried to figure out where she could be and how to find her. We sat in the car park for about 15 minutes hoping she'd be on one of the buses that were returning but to no avail. Strangely though at one point we saw three different Weng Yan's on the bus. This venrture failed..we sought to look for her at nearby eateries, converting several of UPM's one way streets into two way streets in the process. Here too our search was futile.

Next was on to the library, where my friend had to lie his way in to the library on the pretense of an emergency. Fail, looks like our friend wasn't the studious person we thought she was. So another slow drive around the campus commenced with lots of slowing down by bus stops to check and see if she was there. At about 10:15pm we arrived back at her Kolej carpark, spirits defeated and physically tired and my car petrol down a notch or two. Here we resolved to just leave her a note and head home. So we spent the next 15 or so minutes writing a very long note of not much substance and then got out to go slip it under her door. This is when I heard the screams of "Weng Yan!" followed by a mini rush of two of my passengers towards a small group of girls approaching the car park. And so follows my though process at the time:

Jee Lee n Josh Scream and rush (Oh! We found her!)
Girl runs away as they approach (Oh No! They got the wrong person! So embarassing!)
They chase the girl (Oh my goodness! They two of them have lost it in their desperation!)
Short game of chase (Oh dang..we got to rescue that poor girl)
They all stop running (Oh she's given up)
They start jumping and screaming (Oh so it is her!)

And so we found our friend in the end, though it took a much longer time then expected. And so commenced the jumping, screaming, hugging and yum cha session. Now that should have been the end of it, but the night was not done...and as we were gonna leave the mamak and head back..a screw from my spectacles fell off and there went my lens. Found the lens didn't find the screw. So Joshua was going to have the honor of driving us back to the kolej, where Weng yan got me a paper clip and I used that to hold my spectacles together, all the while thinking.."How the heck am I gonna go to work tomorrow?". With specs safely secured and my vision restored, we headed back home and that was the end of our adventure.

A blast to the past...well..more like a lame hop

Daily Quote : "After forwarding some jokes to u guys,I've decided to send an original joke of mine. Here it goes........(read it real fast) TIMOTHY LEONG funny, rite?hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha." -Queen of lameness, Siew Ching -
Daily Craving : Luncheon Meat

Well look at this! My frist consecutive entry in a long time! Hooray for me! Many people must be wondering about the title and the daily quote entry, so I guess it is time to enlighten all you people out there. It so happens that for some strange reason I decided to take a look back at some old emails that were circulating around a few years back (There should be about 10 girls and 3 guys going "Oh Damn! Not those mails!").

I can tell you I was laughing my head off! I just can't believe the kind of things we came up with those days. I we were lame to the max (actually we still are lame). The number of songs, rhymes, poems, insults and stories that came out. That was the time of Moo-ching, the time of the "Grass-Mouse" connection the time when no one could walk without a limp. But that seriously brings back the memories..and that's why I have that quote up there....what better quote of the day then the one that started it all.

It also sort of dawned on me as I was reading the mails, that a certain someone I won't say who (points at the QOL) kept telling her friends not to study so hard, kept saying must give her chance larr, that she very lazy larr, kononnya macam pelajarannya tak baik..tetapi bila result tu keluar....budak tu yg dapat markah paling tinggi!. Some people I tell you..teruk betul..so kiasu....must try so hard to make sure she the best...hahahaaha...(there is proabably gonna be a girl somewhere in UK gunning for my head now).

Well that's all for now....and I'll just leave you guys with this really ol' poem that I dug out while reading the emails..you know..just for old times sake.....hehehehhe(*evil grin*)

Greetings to all of you out there,
You all better beware,
Past week physically lame I was,
For awhile I even had to hop to floss,
But worry not my little lamelings,
Now I'm back with a zing,
Physically recovered but still as lame,
Too bad I've no "kaki" what a shame.

Unlike "clean grass" at Midvalley,
Oh my! Aren't they lovely,
One's a mouse at the same time an ass,
Oops forgive me, I meant lab ass,
Five days a week in he slaves away,
Making capacitors he does all day,
In spite of the hard work he does for his pay,
Through the other he still knows what we say.

Now the other is tall and thin,
Sorta like grass just not so green,
Every Friday she joins us for lunch,
Holiday or not we go for a munch,
Cause all holiday troubles she can fix,
For her 1 + 1 + 1 = 6!
Together they're cuter than the Grinch,
So cute that Siew Ching wants to pinch,

Information super highway is what the Internet is,
But the "clean grass" connection is faster than this,
Far apart they're supposed to be,
But that is all just a scam see,
Tell them something and see how soon,
I bet you the other will know by noon,
Someday we will hear bells ring,
Let's just hope we're invited to the wedding.

At the wedding I'm sure we'll see,
The best man with his own bride to be,
Half-man, half-woman what is it?
Our sense of gender he/she has distorted it,
Reminds me of a nursery rhyme we used to croon,
About the cow jumping over the moon,
The favourite song of his I sing now,
Twinkle, twinkle little star, oh looks there goes a cow!

The other half looks as innocent as a kitten,
But looks can be deceiving so it is written,
Do not be fooled by that charming façade,
Cause underneath lies a lame McFlurry heart,
Self proclaimed Queen of Lameness is she,
I can't believe she's lamer than me,
Hard to believe yet it's true,
The way those two lovebirds gel like glue!

They deny all that's said about them,
Self-brought trouble to them is like a grem,
Between figuring out that "Duh!" means yes,
Asking people to the prom under duress,
And sucking face like there's no tomorrow,
(Soon they'll both have faces like a scarecrow)
They keep ending up in mess,
This McFlurry and her Moo-mooness.

Two couples I gone through for fun,
I'll bet you all think I'm done,
There's much more that's yet to come,
Entertainment for more than some,
Two couples in two trees,
K.I.S.S.I.N.G.,
First there were four now there's six,
Oh my gosh the thought makes me sick!

Oh lookie here I'm on a roll,
All that boredom was bound to take its toll,
So let me tell you another rhyme,
One immortalized by time,
Charlesy Mousey acted like a buffoon,
Kissed Grace and made her swoon,
When Timothy came out that day,
It was Siew Ching who came out to play.

Charlesy Mousey sat on a wall,
Charlesy Mousey had a great fall,
Of all of those who do the can-can,
Only Grace could make Charlesy Mousey all better again.,
Moo moo lame cow, have you any sense?
"No sir, no sir, I've no cow sense",
"None for my master, none for the dame",
"It's all for my McFlurry who lives down the lane".

You all can now take a breather,
I'll save the rest for later,
Yes that's right this is the end,
I've decided to be considerate my friend,
No more charing or anything like that,
I'll be off with a tip of my hat,
Bored am I, it's plain to see,
So give me a call if you're free.

Into the New Year

Daily Quote : "Live as though Christ died yesterday, rose from the grave today, and is coming back tomorrow" - Theodore Epp -
Daily Craving : "loh ak" - stewed duck

Welcome 2005! Here we are into the new year. I haven't posted in awhile and so much has happened since my last post. Christmas has come and gone, and thank God all went well on Christmas day. Thank God that He was able to use us that day to touch the lives of those who were there. But who would have thought that just one day after the celebrations, Asia would be rocked by one of the worst disasters ever? Earthquake meassuring 8.9, the strongest in 20 years causing, Tsunamis to hit the southern region. Tsunamis reaching even here, in Malaysia, where "natural dissaster" usually means floods and landslides. It just goes to show that there are no certainties in this world other then God, cause even death isn't certain...I mean what happens if the rapture happens before you die? :)

I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of the damage caused by the earthquake yet. Just yesterday a friend was telling me of a lake near his work place, next to the largest open air iron mine in the world, right here in Malaysia is now releasing sulfur. And there has even been an explosion. Let's just pray that scenes from "Volcano" don't come to pass.

Now the New Year has come and gone as well, and the amazing thing is that our Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi actually asked for all festivities to be canceled and ask for a time of prayer. Isn't it sad that it takes a dissaster for people to turn back to God? That when things are going well most people just act like God isn't evn there. The Americans were just like this until the 9/11 tragedy, then they turned back to God and churches were packed. But now, barely 3 years after that terrible day, things have returned to the way it once was. There is a song which lyrics read "Every day they pass me by, I can see it in their eyes, Empty people filled with care, Headed who knows where?" aren't these words so apt in describing what we all have become?

There is a little brown hamster,
He goes by the name Boo,
His owner's name is Chester,
And he loves boo through and through.

Now Boo is a strong little critter,
And always tries to escape,
Challenges he can face no matter how bitter,
He just needs to get out of the cage.

So one day he sees his chance,
As Chester picks him out to play,
Boo bites him on the finger once,
And scurries off, he is free today!

Off to the garden and beyond the hamster goes,
Through shoes, plants and other things,
All he does is follow his nose,
He smells freedom and his heart sings.

The wheel of time has turned,
And Boo looks much more ragged,
He works so hard time has blurred,
Scavanging for food coveted.

This is the life he wants,
This is the life he likes,
He has the ability and smarts,
His confidence bristles like spikes.

Then one bright sunny day,
As the hamster goes about his way,
Out pounces a cat before he can run away,
Fightened is Boo that all he can do is stay.

The cat bares its teeth,
The cat sharpens its claws,
Boo sees his end in the teeth,
The point of no return is in the cats paws.

The cat punces and Boo cringes,
Then suddenly the hamster is covered,
Feels himself being lifted up by fingers,
Attached to the hand that reached and protected.

Boo opens his eyes to look,
Claw scratched hands,
Blood streaming out like a brook,
Chester had rescued his old friend.

Back in the cage is a happy hamster,
Boo asks why did he ever leave a love so true,
But time passes and memories fade faster,
And once again the outside world beckons Boo.
