Leap of Faith vs Taking a Risk

I have been pondering about leaps of faith lately. I can't help but wonder about the differences between "Taking a risk" and "Taking a leap of faith". I mean they're both essentially the same thing. I agonize over this because a leap of faith is supposed to be something that you do because you are unsure but you know God will see you through. Taking a risk on the other hand...it is supposed to have a more secular connotation. I guess my biggest question is how do you know for sure when you're doing something, if you're relying on God or not. I am facing such a decision right now...and all I can do is pray for guidance and courage.
